| Abstract | This paper deals with the teachings of the Qur'an regarding the role of religion in human history, and its attitudes towards different religions. The paper also contends that the distortion of these teachings within Muslim history is due to reasons of power and politics and its influence on Islamic theology. Finally, the paper urges the Muslims to view other religions such as Buddhism from the perspective of the Qur'an - a perspective which recognizes religious pluralism. |
