Abstract Well-known theologian and liturgist and Director of the Chennai-based Institute of Dialogue with Culture and Religion, the author reflects on the agenda left by the Vatican Council after it issued its first document, the Constitution on the Liturgy, on December 4, 1963. The author inquires on the reasons why the inculturation movement has slowed down in many parts of the Church and makes some suggestions which may help to re-launch it from below rather than from above. They imply an atmosphere of freedom and trust in the sense of faith of the community of believers.
