Abstract | The theology of mission comes to be and develops in the dialogue with the particularity of faiths, cultures and social contexts. Taking account of the risks which the process of globalization faces to-day, the theology of mission must begin by recognising the priority of the principle of plurality. Plurality is never a threat to the uniqueness of the Gospel and the universality of its message, but rather a need of its own logic. While announcing the Word of God, one needs always to take account of the recipients' personal history. In such a perspective living the Mission of the Kingdom, means to stress the listening to the Word of God and to be open to the unexpected. The Christian life fulfils a process that leads to the Kingdom in various cultural contexts. It is an ongoing journey in which the Kingdom can reveal itself as close at hand and emerge as present in our day-to-day existence. The kingdom is the Otherness which opens up before us in the present and embodies our hopes or a new world. The Mission is basically the movement, the dynamism of the Holy Spirit. |
