Abstract In this contribution the author presents the results of his vast research into the practical application of inter-cultural education that took place in the Centro Studi Interculturali at the University of Verona, in collaboration with various national and European organizations. The chief objective of this research is to analyze how far elementary-school textbooks in Italy are in tune with ministerial directives on what should be taught, as well as with everything else to do with inter-cultural education. It also seeks to investigate attention given to ?other? cultures and to identify possible stereotyping prejudices and so-called ethno-centric attitudes.
