| Abstract | The current study, which is presented in two parts, analyses one of the most relevant periods in Christianity at a time when modernity was being constructed, namely, Christian missionary activity in Asia. The mission to Japan involved a meeting point, so to speak. This episode tested human ability and capacity to get to know oneself. This first part examines the impression or image missionaries had of the aforementioned country. |
