| Abstract | This article introduces the few passages in his Catalan Works (Llibre de contemplaci?, Blanquerna, Llibre de santa Maria), in which Llull describes the Muslims' veneration of Mary. The first of the article's three parts shows the presence of Mary in the Qur'an and in Islamic tradition; the second presents the Islamic Mariology of the authors who certainly were Llull's sources (al-Kindi and Ramon Mart?); and the third analyses the three Llullian passages, showing Llull's positive consideration of Islam's veneration of Mary, while noting that it is inadequate unless linked to the worship of Christ. |
