| Abstract | Fifty years ago the Council Vatican II?s Declaration Nostra Aetate was promulgated after a very difficult process and long discussions among the bishops gathered in Rome. The document was a self-evaluation and a reckoning for Christians vis ? vis the Jewish people and Judaism. Jews around the world had different reactions, but the more optimistic feelings prevailed. In light of some pivotal concepts, such as community and dialogue, also shaped by Jewish thinkers like Buber and rav Soloveitchik, a new era for the Christian-Jewish relations has now begun, a time of hope and friendship. |
