Abstract | This is the text of a lecture delivered at the Gregorian University on November 30,2010, within a series on ?Christian Reflexions on the World Cultures.? The author is a Professor of Indian Philosophy and Religion at Jnana Deepa Vidyapeeth, Pune. Fr F. K?rner of the Gregorian University sums up thus the theological issues involved in the lecture: According to the Christian testimony, the whole universe is saved through Christ. This Christ is Jesus of Nazareth, wo preached the Kingdom of God the Father, was killed on the cross and risen from the dead. We can discover Christ in non-Christian religions, because all creation is longing for him and many creatures are trying to anticipate his love. The certainty of salvation as participating already now in God's life is possible only through communion with Jesus Christ; because knowledge of God's eternal love needs knowledge of the Paschal events. |
