Abstract If we want to compare Christianity with the Hindu Dharma, we find both affinities and differences. The altruism and cosmic communion of Dharma are not far from the liberation, communion and justice required for the Kingdom of God. There is, nevertheless, a fundamental and, in some way, irreducible distinction: Christian religion is centred on the person, while Dharma centres on the cosmos, conceived as the ?totality? inside which the ?singularity? finds room for itself. The two ?peculiarities? do not hinder the encounter of the two; rather, they require it. Because the absoluteness claimed by both religions is not exclusive but inclusive. It is a matter of different viewpoints, that refer back to the Holy Mistery, of which each religion is a true Revelation. Here the a. sets out the thought of the Indian Jesuit, Francis D'Sa, and grasps its values, whilst highlighting the risks and the limitations of its process of bringing together Christianity and Hinduism.
