Abstract Many States, rather than having a ?politics of differences? have often developed a ?politics of integration? of ethnic groups through assimilation and often by means of violent forms. The acts of cruelty resulting from such politics have brought to the fore a renewed interest for ethnic groups and cultures, source for persons and peoples of identity. In this present work, the a. seeks to define the nature of ethnic groups not in ?sacral? but ?cultural? terms and he explains how the closures of these depend on insecurity, given that cultures by their nature are made for being integrated. Christianity, with its universal message of ?inculturation? can open up the ethnic groups among themselves provided that we do not reduce them to simple ?adaptation? and develop in them a new Christian ?germination? of ethnic groups and cultures. The work concludes by illustrating the Christian task of ?purifying? ethnic groups from resentment and from rivalry and by ?consolidating? them by opening them up to a ?conviviality? between them
