| Abstract | The author has been a PIME missionary in Mumbai (India) since 1969, working among the lepers and sharing their life in an ashram. He has had to deal daily with the existential problem of praying with people od different religions. A life dialogue was necessary in order to find the place, symbols, prayers, gestures and songs that would be acceptable to all. At the same time he had to find a justification for his action in his own Tradition (Christian scripture and theological reflection). He has observed a certain schizophrenia in his praxis, but he found some contradictions also in the documents of the Magisterium. The author hopes that the various Bishops' Conferences have the opportunity and the freedom to deal officially with the problem of inculturation. |
