| Abstract | Having clarified the concept of multiculturalism and applied it to current European society, the essay shows how Europe cannot avoid a confrontation with its cultural heritage based on the person as the supreme value on which to build the foundations of peace, democracy, development and solidarity. Only the central nature of human dignity provides an opening towards transcendence, enabling us to respond to the deepest, most authentic need of man, overcoming those partial responses that, in the current complexity of intimistic reduction, privatization and the religious phenomenon, reveal their inadequacy. |
