| Abstract | This paper analyzes New Age ideas and practices concerning health and illness. A holistic conception of health is a basic tenet of most New Age movements, along with a conception of treatment as a self-healing project. The a. considers in detail five major kinds of New Age therapies: soft medicines, soft gymnastics, psycho-techniques, meditation and therapeutic movements. As a whole, these therapies represent a wide range of heterogeneous practices, sharing the belief in the close relationship between bodily and spiritual health. |
