| Abstract | Giorgio La Pira is usually regarded as an indefatigable peace-builder, in particular with reference to one of the unsolved conflicts of the twentieth century, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Starting from the essays by Arturo Marzano and Maria Chiara Rioli in the volume Ritornare ad Israele (2016), focused on Israel and Palestine, this article analyses the extent of La Pira awareness about the increasing complexities of the Middle East throughout the 1960s and 1970s in his Mediterranean political strategy through the relational history framework. In particular, this article discusses the inevitable lack of understanding between the parties involved. |
