Abstract The Author gives an articulated presentation of the Marega's Collection which is preserved in Don Bosco's Library at the Pontifical Salesian University. After having outlined the figure of Fr. Mario Marega in his double identity as Salesian and Japanist, the article describes the three contents constitutive of the Collection in the new physiognomy delineated from December 2005. The first section offers an elevated number of texts and manuscripts of Edo's period (1603-1868), which go from literary prose to illustrated guides trip, from texts of female education to cartography; the second section contains manuscript documents which testify the persecutions suffered by the Christians in Japan during the Edo's period and which composes an archival patrimony of international value; the third section preserves the Marega's unpublished studies such as manuscripts, typescripts and notes that testify a feverisch and genial scientific production. In every section, besides the analysis of the contents sustained by the presentation of selected examples, it is added the investigation of the meanings and the potentialities of the Collection. This is a complete description of the Marega's Collection and the first that recognizes its value for the studies of Japanistic, of history of the missions and Christian history.
