Abstract The preparatory document of the coming Synod of bishops on ?Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment? considers the contemporary cultural and religious pluralism a sign of our times, and as such a challenge and an opportunity for fruitful dialogue and mutual enrichment. Therefore, faith education of the young today cannot ignore the challenge of interculturality. Insofar as evangelizers open to cultural pluralism are the primary requisite for an intercultural approach to faith education, we begin by first presenting the relevant results of an empirical research. Secondly, we specify the educative strategies that highlight the educator, the student and the communication between them. Thirdly, we offer an overview of the developmental dynamics of interculturality in terms of intellectual and ethical development essential to the intercultural competence development. In the final section, we look into the underlying cultural assumptions as their deeper dimension, and then delineate intercultural hermeneutics, intercultural critique and intercultural participation as three concrete modes that can contribute to faith maturation of the young.
