Abstract The article presents firstly a historical and sociological overview of migratory flows from China to the rest of the world and in particular to Italy, identifying five phases based on a series of variables : the diversity of the area of origin, the type of migratory flows, the aims and characteristics of migratory projects, the diversity of the Chinese government’s policy on migration, the more or less strong role played by the attraction factors present in the West, the characteristics of the territory of departure and arrival. Secondly, the results of an exploratory study carried out in 2017 on two Chinese Christian evangelical churches in Italy, the « Chinese Evangelical Christian Church » and the « Chinese Christian Church revival » are illustrated. The typology of leadership, the characteristics of the community and of the cult, the possible links with the other religious communities present in Italy and in particular with Catholicism are examined in depth.
