Abstract The twentieth century is obliged to respond to various questions that regard the human being in midst of a society that changes very quickly. Every part of life tries to comprehend this society in its dynamism, challenges and consequences of its transformation. Theology has been for a long time more abstract, but it has to give now its response to the challenges of every kind. The Christian faith and theology in the African region of the Great Lakes give a singular response, not only by the historical dimension of their reality, but also by social, political, economic and environmental aspects which characterize men and women still crucified by various sufferings. They strongly believe in the liberating power of Jesus Christ announced by the Holy Scriptures.
