Abstract In the face of other religions and cultures, the challenge to be a 'mission-shaped church' is a project which requires clarification. What should be at the centre of missionary activity is not the church, but the proclamation of the Kingdom of God. And because this good news can only be conveyed through a process of dialogue (with the others by respecting their values and by taking an honest look at your own dark sides), a mission-shaped church must risk open and self-critical encounter with other cultures and religions, so that it can make fresh discovery of its own truth from the questions of others.
