| Abstract | The maintenance of Christian identity requires at one and the same time, fidelity to Christian traditions and the ?reevaluation? (Pius XII) of these traditions in order to free them from circumstantial additions and to adapt them in function of new circumstances. Today, this reevaluation is done in the light of unbelief in the West and of the emergence of cultural systems without connections to the Mediterranean tradition within which Christianity was born and developed. |
