| Abstract | In the Bible and Mahāyāna Buddhism, the Great Vehicule, wisdom literature holds pride of place, both in volume as well as in its vivifying meaning for the whole of each of these traditions. This essay will attempt to compare these two types of literature on the basis of a precise textual anchorage in each of them: the Diamond Sutra for Mahāyāna Buddhism and Ecclesiastes or the Book of Qoheleth for the Bible. The author encourages a genuine encounter between Buddhist and Judeo-Christian traditions that requires taking the risk of comparing two of their founding texts. |
